"japee" creates individual head gear- beginning with ordinary to flamboyant; glamorous head gear with feathers,pearls and veils for your evening entrance; little colourful "Pralines" of silk, finely felt and straw to enrapture as well as lively hats for every day life of fur felt, sisol straw and different cloths with clear and dainty lines, folds and asymmetries. She gets her inspirations from her life and finds it in her imagination, mixes and refines it with traditional-classical shapes of the costumes history and a romantic- elegant easiness of the hat shapes from the 20ies/ 30ies. Every hat from "japee" is a hand made unicum- unmistakable and unique. |
Her creations are similar to sculptures- partly modeled on your head. There are hat models the artist shapes with her hand by stretching the material (felt and straw) first, than folding, pinching, twisting and cutting it until the desired and perfect shape is achieved. The "finery" of the hat evolves in her imagination- it can be funny, light, romantic, elegant, archaic, geometric,. "japee" creates head gear without drawings or sketches- the hats, caps, shape and Pralines evolve from her hands, stomach and the pictures in her head- it just happens. The hats from "japee" are work of crafts- some tiny little, some big as plates but always sensible, noble and wearable. Hats for life where you sometimes maybe feel the poetry of the theatre. |
